Can wood waste be held together without any glue or additives? The short answer is Yes! BIO BLOCKS are safe for cooking because they are made out of recycled, environmentally friendly wood waste without any binders added.
The long answer is that because briquettes are made of wood that contains lignin, which is a polymer that is only second to cellulose as the most abundant organic material on earth, they are naturally bound together. Lignin is found in the cell walls of wood, making up 1/4 to 1/3 of the dry weight. This breaks down under the compression process and relatively high temperature and will re-polymerize, binding the wood particles together into a compact block.
This natural process makes BIO BLOCKS an ideal, safe alternative to firewood or charcoal when grilling or sitting around a campfire.
